Celebrate black history with 'Indigo Blues'

Bluff City Tri-Art Theatre Company presents a production of Indigo Blues A Lovesong in honor of African-American female playwrights during Black History month.

The 3-character play centers around two sisters from Louisiana who share a long-time rivalry over a saxophone player who mysteriously resurfaces into their lives after 30 years.

The play, written by Emmy-nominated Judi Ann Mason and directed by Karen Moore, stars Sandra Bray, Kenon Walker, Patricia Smith and music by Terrell "T-Shark" Sharkey. Part of the proceeds will go to the Women’s Theatre Festival of Memphis.

You can catch Indigo Blues February 15-17 and February 22-24, starting at 7:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and at 3 p.m. on Sundays at TheatreWorks located at 2085 Monroe Avenue.  Feb. 17 is sold out.

For reservations, call 901-213-7444 or go to eventbrite.com and search Indigo Blues.
