Firefighters hospitalized after flames

Two firefighters were injured Tuesday morning while they battled an apartment fire in the 2800 block of Arrowhead Court.

A dozen units inside the Kensington Manor Apartments were damaged before firefighters put the flames out just before 3:30 a.m., nearly an hour after they first made the scene.

A pair of firefighters were taken to the hospital with minor injuries, but are expected to be okay. No residents were hurt during the fire.

Fire investigators are still trying to determine what sparked the flames.

Violent crime plagues Memphis neighborhood

Memphis, TN (WMC-TV) - A recent carjacking and kidnapping in an area just east of the Memphis Airport has brought attention to just how out of control crime is in the area near Lamar and New Getwell.

A crime track of the area shows 164 crimes in just the past 30 days, within a one mile radius.

That means more than five crimes a day happen in the area. One of those crimes ended in a death in July. A pole decorated with teddy bears marks the spot on Forest Brook.

Police say the gunmen got away on foot.
